The Rocky Road steel roof rail system will work with ALL Jeep Grand Cherokees 2011-2018
As you may be aware with your Jeep, the flimsy factory mount system makes it very tough to carry additional equipment that weighs more than about 30lbs.
You may discover Jeep has their own crossbar system on which they expect you to carry your cargo loads or toys, but we were among the first to receive one of these factory roofrail kits and they are FLIMSY! These may be alright if you just want to carry a couple sleeping bags, much more though and you will find out too, how flimsy these Jeep factory kits are. The only solution? New steel roof rails to which you can mount our Adventure rack, or our Crossbar kit to which you can use some Yakima and Thule rack accessories. Adapters may be required for some accessories. Adapters are available through roof rack manufacturers.
Our new beefy steel rail kit bolts directly to the factory bolt holes up on top of your roof inside the channels on the sides of your roof. They are VERY easy to install. No special tools needed. Everyone can do it themselves in just a couple minutes. You simply remove the stock bolts inside your tracks, and our kit with new longer stainless steel bolts will simply bolt right back into place.

Our new steel rails provide a VERY strong mounting system for the top of your Jeep. Whether you are using our Adventure rack, the Crossbar kit, or any other roof rack mounted systems, our steel rails are an excellent upgrade which will dramatically increase the functionality of your Jeep's rack system... and is simply light years beyond what Jeep came up with as a factory solution.

Installation of the Rocky Road Steel Roof Rail kit does require a certain track system on the roof of your Jeep.
Some Jeeps come with only a black plastic cover piece, which covers all the mounting holes in the roof of the Jeep. This black plastic strip is the top picture at right. You will need to remove these pieces and purchase the Jeep Track kit which is offered as an option below. These kits are available from your local Jeep dealership, but Rocky Road price is around $40 lower than your local dealership.
Removal is VERY easy as the black plastic strips are hold on by a handful of screws accessed from above.
If you have a chrome track mounted along your roof (as in the lower picture at right), then you won't need to do anything. Our rail and rack systems will bolt right onto your Jeep.
If you have any confusion on this, please click on the images at right so more clearly see the difference between the simple black plastic strip, and the Jeep Track kit (most Jeeps do tend to have these installed from the factory). The Jeep Track kit with the chrome track, is what you need.
We absolutely encourage you to check out our ADVENTURE RACK SERIES as well (click the "here" link below), which compliment the steel roof rails perfectly. Rocky Road helps you get the most out of your Jeep Grand Cherokee for any adventure!
