Rocky Road OTT Steering kits, as seen in 4WD & Sport Utility, Four Wheeler, and 4Wheel & Offroad magazines
as well as on Jeeps Unlimited.
Picture above is the full steering system with optional components, including:
Left and Right steering knuckles, tie rod, drag link, track bar, all tapered ball joints, (opt)swaybar mounting system, (opt) swaybar disconnects, swaybar frame mounts, (opt) steering stabilizer and mounting system.
This is THE premier high steer system on the planet for your Jeep.
The OTT steering system will change the way your Jeep handles. Doesn't matter how tall you are, the steering will become more precise. The control and handling will improve on and offroad. This steering setup will take any Jeep with oversize tires and turn it into a modern precise handling machine.
Pictured is the full complete system mounted up. Notice how high EVERYTHING is. Other kits only move your drag link. We move the drag link, tire rid, track bar, and the steering shock way up high out of harm's way. AND for more more precise handling overall. As you can see... this is THE BEST kit on the planet.

It is not only an investment to beef up your steering, or to increase clearance and capability, but also a substantial upgrade in safety and handling.
Minimum recommended lift height is 4". Using a high steer kit over the standard "under" the knuckle is ideal for any suspension at or over 4" tall. Please note, if you have a very tall suspension, it may be wise to combine a high steer kit with additional items such as a drop pitman for the most ideal configuration.
Let's talk about "bolton". Some claim it, but they lie... like a stinky cow-pie.
The Rocky Road OTT system is true bolt-on. No welding required. Many kits actually require welding, even though they say bolt-on. Also, no need to change your steering knuckles with the Rocky Road kit. Changing the steering knuckle requires high dollar tools and/or professional installation, often requires additional cutting and welding, and is anything but a simple bolton operation. The Rocky Road OTT steering system can be installed by anyone... ANYONE!
All bolton... not partially bolton like other kits that claim they are full bolton. This is THE TRUE bolton kit on this planet for a full high steer system on your Jeep.
Why are we making such a big deal about this detail? Because it makes a difference when you are sitting at home on a weekend with your new steering kit all excited to 'bolt it on', and the kit you purchased from elsewhere isn't what it was advertised to be.... then yes, it does make a difference.
Pictures show pre-cut holes for ABS lines, these no longer exist. If you have ABS, you will need to drill your own holes for the line to pass thru.
The strength and performance of this system blows all other kits out of the water. The arms are carved from solid machine stock steel with horizontal grain. This makes them incredibly strong! We also include high grade bolts mounting to eliminate sheer possibility. Our new steering system incorporates caliper mounting so that the arm is held solidly on two planes and is incredibly strong. Each knuckle hosts a 5 point mounting system for super strength and safety. All tubing is .25" DOM. Kit comes powdercoated black for an excellent look and durable finish.
This shot shows our unique and superior swaybar link mounting. No more bungee cords to hold your swaybar when disconnected, no more rattly links flopping around. Our setup fastens the links and the swaybar up high and secure.

Positioning of the steering linkage requires a totally new swaybar mounting and disconnect system. This was one of the trickier parts of the engineering in this steering system. The bad news will be that whatever swaybar disconnect system you have now, won't work. For those who chose not to run a front swaybar at all, no problem. You just order our regular OTT steering system. For those that do want a front swaybar, you will need to order our disconnect kit. As you can see from the photos above, it is different from any existing setup and so our optional kit would be required. Some people use their Jeeps primarily for the trail though and choose not to run a swaybar system which is why this is an optional kit. We do recommend running with your swaybar however and do recommend this swaybar disconnect kit.
Perhaps best of all, this is kit 50-state legal. We use tapered ball joints at each mounting point. Other kits sometimes use standard rod ends. These are illegal to use in a steering system on public roads AND allow play in the system so the steering feel loose. Our kits uses fitted tie rod ends for a precision feel and handling. We also use LH and RH threads on our tie rod so that alignment can easily be performed. All tie rod ends are standard off-the-shelf parts for easy replacement if they ever wear out. No custom pieces to track down. We can just give you the universal part number for easy replacement.
Apologies for the dirt. We like to beat on and test... not bathe our Jeeps
Shot shows the ABS port for those Jeeps that do have an ABS system
Notice the tapered ball joints as well. They make this kit 50-state DOT legal.
The OTT steering system is the only kit to offer full legality on public roads. Drop pitman arms are NOT necessary for this kit with stock or lifted springs. Our engineering takes care of all this.
Want to run a steering shock/stablizer? No problemo. Our kit will provides an optional offroad grade steering shock. Bolts right into place and uses a simple factory mounting system.
Price? HA! The other guys fear our pricing! Compare systems and you'll wonder why their setups cost more when you're actually getting much less value. The Rocky Road OTT system offers the ultimate in strength, engineering, and unbeatable pricing!
At this time our high steer kits for the Wranglers are only available thru the 2006 model Jeeps.

Please note: It you wish to run a front swaybar on your Jeep, you will need to pick up our optional swaybar kit. For those who are building mainly trail rigs and/or don't want to run a front swaybar, no need to purchase that extra component. Our high steer system can be made to work with some high end swaybar systems where the stock swaybar is not used and a replacement bar with disconnect on the bar or at the ends of the bar is used. EMAIL us if you have questions on this.
The above chart is 100% accurate. You might wonder what the heck those other systems include at their higher price with so many red strikes against them. Well... it has us wondering too.
The OTT Steering system is clearly the best choice for your Wrangler. There is no over-steer or under-steer with this system, just perfect handling. It is 50-state legal. Stronger than all get-out, and our price puts other kits to shame. We don't want to make our competitors cry.... but they just might.

Please note: If you choose to run a steering shock, you MUST purchase the Rocky Road steering shock kit. It is available as an optional item in our steering kit. No other steering shock can be used without risk of damage to your new steering system as ours is a custom design with additional travel. Any other shock on the market is too short and use will lead to damage of the steering system. Use of any other steering shock will void the warranty on your steering system.
Also note that the OTT Steering knuckles are designed for use with standard Jeep power steering systems and may not be able to handle the extreme stresses from additional hydraulic assist rams or other such extreme hydraulic upgrades to your steering system.
Use of larger than stock diameter coil springs might cause interference problems. Brackets can be modified, but may void warranty. We have tested for OME coils only.
