V6 Vortech swap kit for Suzuki Samurai
![]()
Being a Samurai owner takes a special breed. We're all fun-loving folks and we certainly adore our little trucks. They pretty much go anywhere and do anything we ask them to. We all just wish they'd get there a little faster. Rocky Road to the rescue!!!
While it may sound obscene to install something as powerful as a V6 engine into your Samurai, there's really nothing like cruising down the highway in your Zuk with 33" tires on and passing a Wrangler who is at his top speed. Talk about revenge!!!
The Chevy Vortech is a perfect choice for a V6 conversion since first off... it fits! It can also be adapted to the Samurai drivetrain and Chevy engine parts are among the easiest on the planet to find. Not to mention there's plenty of them around.
What is a "Vortech" engine???
In the past, when someone decided on an engine there were the inevitable regrets: "It's got great horsepower, but the gas mileage is poor," or "It's very durable, but it can't tow much," or "It gets great mileage, but it requires a lot of maintenance." Vortec engines are designed to deliver great horsepower, with excellent fuel efficiency, impressive durability and low maintenance requirements.
The Vortec name reflects the powerful vortex in the combustion chamber and the sophisticated technology that GM uses to maximize both performance and efficiency. The name "Vortec" originated in the 1986 4.3L V-6 engine that used "vortex technology" to create a vortex inside the combustion chamber as pictured to the right.
GM Powertrain engineers incorporated this phenomenon into their engines to achieve a better air-to-fuel mixture in the combustion process. The result is what has now developed into Vortec engines -- engines that are designed to deliver plenty of horsepower without sacrificing fuel efficiency. While the technology has evolved over time, the design philosophy remains the same. Vortec engines deliver both power and efficiency, all in a low-maintenance, durable package
You want specs? How about...
190 horsepower @ 4400 rpm
250 lb-ft of torque @ 2800 rpm
Bottom line is your Samurai will be the most powerful on or off the road... unless you see another of our V6 equipped Samurais, that is.

Your Samurai must have at least a 3" lift for proper clearance to the axle. We offer the world's largest selection of suspension lifts and can help set you up with the kit most suited to your needs. Also, a tune port plug-in wiring harness is available as an option for any of the kits.
The not too great news is that due to the complexity of this system, it is not a cheap swap for someone on a tight budget. If you think your VISA card can handle it though, you will not be disappointed. We have several kits available depending on how easy and fast you want your installation to be. All installation pieces carry a 1 year warranty.
