Jeep JK Wrangler, Rubicon, Unlimited 4.5" Lift kit
featuring Old Man Emu components.

As seen in 4WD & Sport Utility Magazine

Let's face it.. there are at least a hundred different lift kits out there for your Jeep. What separates one from another? Even when we flip thru magazines, they all look the same. It is the pictures of the springs? Shocks? All the nice brackets and bits? Fancy colors? These pictures sure make those kits look nice. So how does one choose?

Underneath it all, underneath all the advertising, the flashy photos, the colorful vehicles, lies the foundation of any lift. The springs. All those lift kits you see all stacked up in the magazines and catalogs, they do have at least one thing in common... stiff riding springs.

Crummy springs are the bane of the Jeep 4x4 world..... prevalent, horrible, tough to identify. Advertising budgets and flashy colors in pictures make great camoflage for them. They'll take your dream toy and turn it into something no one wants to ride in, and you curse every day you failed to research properly and wound up on those stiff big brand name springs.

Spring manufacture is a fine art which very few companies take the time to engineer properly. The largest names in the business are guilty of it.... mass producing cheap springs that ride brutally stiff, but sell well because of the insane markup that most 4x4 shops get on those springs.... meaning they really push those big name kits. As a general rule, the less markup on a spring there is, the less likely you are to see it on your local 4x4 shop's shelves.... which is why you rarely see Old Man Emu components. They are the best quality parts, but not the most heavily advertised. At Rocky Road... we look beyond hype and really do take a different approach to our customer's Jeeps. A better one...

There is no question about it, the world knows that Old Man Emu springs cannot beat for ride quality. The only complaint we ever see on them is that they are not too tall which poses a problem for folks looking to run taller tires, but who still want to enjoy their daily ride in their nice Jeep. OME avoids the more 'extreme' scene by manufacturing mild lift springs. Old Man Emu may not be the most well-known to 4wheelers, but in our industry they are undisputably the best.

At Rocky Road, we do like to push things a bit taller and so have developed a 4.5" system with the Old Man Emu springs for your JK. We have combined the OME springs with additional components to offer a fully properly engineered suspension system that not only rides far better than anything else on the market, but can handle up to 36" tires. You got it... a full 4.5" suspension featuring Old Man Emu springs. With some fender trimming or a small body lift, you can go even taller on your tires.

Almost as bad as those poor quality springs nowadays are some of the "long arm" kits that are on the market. Many of these kits do not allow your front axle to cycle up and down in the manner it was designed for which is why they handle so spooky at highway speeds. Long-arm kits are cheap to make, very profitable for sellers, yet can be scary at highway speeds. Those systems are fine for vehicles trailered to the trails. The the rotating castor on these systems is what makes for the spooky handling... picture your Jeep turning like a skateboard. They do look super cool in a picture in a magazine, but most of us need to have reliable and safe transportation daily, which means skipping long arm kits. Even magazine tech editors agree as noted in numerous articles on the subject. Your life is worth more than 1-2" of extra flex on the trail.

An additional and VERY important feature you should note on our lifts is that we have Medium and Heavy Duty kits available for the 2door and the 4door. How many suspension manufacturers do you see with a one-size-fits-all kit? Pretty much all of them. Does it make sense to you that one spring fits every Jeeps's needs? Of course not. Its because they simply didn't want to do the necessary engineering to allow Jeepers to custom tailer a lift to their specific needs.

At Rocky Road, we understand that not everyone runs a winch, or has a full fiberglass hardtop. Some of us go doorless. Some use our Jeeps for towing. We can mix and match the springs as well if you like by calling in your order. Our website shows the most common Medium and Heavy Duty combinations, but we are very happy to customize your suspension for you. Our spring rate selection allows you to make sure you are getting the exact ride you need for your usage. The other suspension manufacturers... apparently think we are all identical.

We also package in soft riding Rocky Road Engineered shocks. Tired of shocks from the 'brand name' suspension companies designed for the weight of a full sized V10 pickup truck? So are we!

Rocky Road soft-ride long travel shocks. We feel we have designed the best riding shock we have found on the market today for moderate weight vehicles like our Jeeps. Other shocks are designed for vehicles thousands of lbs heavier (namely, pickup trucks), our engineered shocks are right on the money for a Jeep. Superbly valved for a great ride on road without being mushy offroad.

OR, the ever-popular Rancho 9000XL Adjustable shocks are available as an upgrade option, which allow you to adjust and dial in your shocks for your favorite setting, or change it up depending on the driving and terrain you hit for the day.

The Trailblazer 4" lift kit is the perfect size for tires up to 36". A great size safe enough to run on a daily driver, not overpowering to braking and steering systems, yet a great size for off-roading on all but the most extreme of bottomless mudpits or rockcrawling competitions.

Handles like a dream at speeds over 80mph. Rides more comfortably than any other suspension we've come across....

Each Trailblazer kit includes:

Old Man Emu replacement front and rear coil springs with spacers for a full 4.5" of lift. Simply put, the best riding spring on the market available.

Long Travel shocks. A great soft riding RRO Engineered shock designed for the medium weight of the Wrangler. Rides like a dream onroad as opposed to other STIFF shocks.

Adj Front Track Bar. Anytime you go over 2" in lift, you must replace the front track bar to keep proper front axle alignment and handling.

Adj Rear Track Bar. Anytime you go over 2" in lift, you want to adjust the rear track bar to keep proper rear axle position and handling.

Full DOT Rubber brake lines. Stainless lines fatigue and are prone to bursting.... which is why no vehicle manufacturer EVER uses them. Our brake lines are DOT rubber and state inspector friendly. No red flags raised, 100% safe. All other kits on the market use the cheaply manufactured stainless lines. These top quality rubber DOT brake lines are a Rocky Road exclusive.

Bumpstop extensions keep your whopper tires from hitting on the body.

Rear Bar Pin Eliminators. A common problem you hear about on the JK is the rear shock mounting bar pins. They slip sideways, they make noise, or they may just pop off and unattach from the vehicle altogether. Our BPE kits eliminate this. Again, a unique feature to the Rocky Road fully engineered suspension system.

OPTIONAL UPGRADE: Swaybar disconnect kits front and rear. Swaybars on... your Jeep rides nice and stable on the pavement. Tracks correctly, feels secure. Disconnect the swaybars... you now have a FLEX monster capable of handling even the most challenging trails. Our front AND rear kits make sure you've got the most articulating JK on the trail.
